The Logan County Board of Elections is reminding voters that the August 7th filing deadline for candidates in local races is approaching.
Each village has four council seats available in the November election. The villages are Belle Center, DeGraff, Huntsville, Lakeview, Russells Point, Quincy, Rushsylvania, West Liberty, West Mansfield, and Zanesfield.
A boards of public affairs seat is being voted on in DeGraff, Russells Point, Rushsylvania, West Liberty, and West Mansfield.
Each township has two trustee seats open and the Jefferson Township Fiscal Officer unexpired term will be filled.
School board seats will also be voted on. Two candidates will be elected for Bellefontaine and Indian Lake and three seats will be chosen for Benjamin Logan, Riverside, and West Liberty-Salem.
The board of elections also wants to remind West Liberty-Salem voters about the special election of August 6th. The special election is for the West Liberty-Salem bond issue.
Absentee voting for the special election runs through August 2nd at 6 pm.
Also all West Liberty-Salem voters who normally vote at the Monroe or Union Township House will see a polling location change for this election. They are being asked to vote at the Grace Chapel Church. These voters will return to their regular polling place for the November election.
Candidates intending to file their paperwork on August 6th may experience delays because of the election.
Election petitions are available at the Logan County Board of Elections located at 225 S. Main Street, and must be filed by 4 pm on August 7th.
