The Logan County Commissioners have decided to stay in-house for the new leader of the Logan County Solid Waste Management District.
The commissioners have named longtime employee Angel Payne the interim coordinator.
Payne is succeeding Alan Hale, who retired three weeks ago.
Angel has been with the agency for over 20 years. She has been the office manager for the last several years.
Commissioner Dustin Wickersham said Payne's financial expertise will help the district maintain many of the innovative programs started under Hale.
The solid waste district grew immensely the last few years. Logan County now has 14 recycling centers around the county and plans to add centers in Zanesfield near the fire department and on the north side of Indian Lake near the state park.
The commissioners said Payne will work closely with Hale. He will continue to consult the organization one day per week.
