Ridgemont set to take the next step in K-12 building project

The Ridgemont Board of Education held its monthly meeting Thursday night.

Superintendent Emmy Davis reports that the board should be able to approve schematic design at the September board meeting. She is hopeful that they will also be finishing design development for the October meeting.

Ridgemont will hold a community update meeting on September 18th at 7 pm in the high school commons. School officials will share design updates with an emphasis on teaching and learning along with operational efficiencies and the introduction of a Memories Team to help bring the history and tradition of Ridgemont into the new building. The K-12 facility will be built on property donated by the Elliott family on State Route 273 just west of Mt. Victory.

In personnel, the board accepted the resignation of Charles Roby for the purpose of retirement after more than 30 years of service to the school. The board expressed their gratitude for his contributions to the district.

The board approved a one-year contract for Victoria Sharrer and two-year contracts for classified employees Tiffany Cobb, Gene Ledley, Kerry McCullough, and Brenda Zachary.

Substitute bus drivers were approved along with non-certified substitutes, mentor teachers, and athletic supplementals.

The next board meeting will be September 26th at five p.m. in the high school library.
