Local leaders to present Domestic Violence Awareness Day event

A Domestic Violence Awareness Day event will be conducted in the Union Station gym (former Southeastern Elementary) at 613 Hamilton Street, Bellefontaine, Friday afternoon from 12:15 to 12:45.

The 12th annual event sponsored by the New Directions of Consolidated Care is called Pathway to Violence-Free Families.

Guest speakers include Russells Point Police Chief Joe Freyhof and a local victim of domestic violence.

Victim Witness Lucretia Grogan from the municipal court prosecutor's office will sing.

Logan County Commissioner Dustin Wickersham will deliver a proclamation and the benediction will be presented by Pastor John Watkins.

A balloon release will be conducted on behalf of Logan County victims.

Purple ribbons will also be available for anyone interested in tying one to their car to show their support for safe and healthy families.
