Girl Scouts of Western Ohio recently asked Girl Scout troops to make a 15 or 30 video based on the new Girl Scout membership campaign theme, “I can’t wait to be a Girl Scout.” Whether about community service, camping, making friends or having fun, Girl Scouts wanted to hear from girls about the endless possibilities that girls can’t wait to do in Girl Scouting.
Sixteen troops submitted videos which were uploaded to Girl Scouts of Western Ohio’s Facebook page October 10; voting took place until 9 a.m. October 14. Voting was based on the number of video shares from Girl Scouts of Western Ohio’s Facebook page. The top three winners received Girl Scout gift certificates (First Place—$75, Second Place—$50 and Third Place—$25). In addition, the top three videos were placed on Girl Scouts of Western Ohio’s website, YouTube Channel and are being sent to local TV stations and other media outlets. The winners are listed below and the link to view all three videos is: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyA8HVri6T512n733rgf1tg/videos
- First Place: Girl Scout Daisy Troop 10047 with 481 shares
- Second Place: Girl Scout Brownie Troop 32309 with 289 shares
- Third Place: Girl Scout Junior Troop 48070 with 258 shares
Girl Scouts of Western Ohio is pleased with the participation received during the first year of this contest and hopes that media outlets in western Ohio and southeastern Indiana—a 32 county area—will use these videos (as stories and on websites) to share the excitement and enthusiasm girls have for Girl Scouting.
