BHS Band earns excellent at New Bremen (Audio included)

The Bellefontaine High School Marching Band competed in an Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) district event at New Bremen High School Saturday.

The Pride of the Tribe fell short of expectations and received an excellent rating. The band is still in high spirits and plans to work hard this week as they get ready to travel to Springfield Shawnee and Tecumseh for two contests next weekend.

Six bands received a superior and qualified for State Contest. They include Troy, Shawnee, Versailles, Grove City, Columbus Grove, Milton-Union, Tippecanoe, Maumee, and Ross.

There were 9 class C bands, 1 class B band, 8 class A bands, and 3 class double A bands. The different awards given out included best auxiliary, best percussion, and 1st-5th place.

The contest ran on schedule, which made a late night for bands with the awards ceremony concluding around 11 p.m.

Band director Nick Pelfrey was very proud of the band and thought they performed the best they could have.

The band added their fourth and final song to the field this past week and plans to do more perfecting to prepare for the next contest.

Listen to senior Tommy Snapp share his feelings on the contest.

Listen to Nick Pelfrey describe how the band is working.
