A semi driver was cited after his rig jackknifed on Route 33 east of County Road 10 Friday night around 10:15. The crash slowed eastbound traffic for a couple of hours.
The Marysville Post of the State Highway Patrol reports that Randall Erckert Sr., 48, of Columbus, was driving a 1998 International semi eastbound on 33 when he rear-ended a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser operated by Gary Bowman, 53, of 20330 State Route 347, Raymond.
The semi then went off the right side of the road, struck a concrete bridge barrier, and jackknifed.
Erckert said he swerved to miss a deer, then lost control and struck the rear of the PT Cruiser. He was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance.
No one was injured.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
