Injury accident near Bellefontaine

A teen passenger suffered incapacitating injuries in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 1 and Gunntown Road Tuesday afternoon around five o'clock.

The Marysville Post of the State Highway Patrol reports that Jonathan Knisley, 18, of 1267 Cornish Drive, DeGraff, was driving a '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on Gunntown Road. Knisley stopped at the stop sign, then pulled in front of a northbound '97 Acura Integra operated by Casey Mehl, 17, of 316 Tracemore Lane, West Liberty.

Mehl's car struck the passenger's side of the Jeep.

A 17-year-old boy riding with Knisley was injured.

The unnamed boy was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital by Bellefontaine Fire and EMS.

Knisley and Mehl were not injured.

All three occupants were wearing their seat belts.

Knisley was cited for failure to yield.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged.

The accident tied up traffic at the intersection for several minutes.
