Ridgemont Board recognizes Students of the Month; sets four district goals

The Ridgemont School Board conducted its regular monthly meeting Thursday night.

Students of the Month Colin Turner and Chelsea Zachman were honored for their examples in leadership and as role models for other students. Turner plans to study engineering while Zachman is torn between social or dental work. Turner has participated in the Christmas light decorating in Mt. Victory and helped with the school’s Annual Senior Citizens’ Christmas Luncheon while Zachman volunteers in her church, helps set up for the Hardin County Fair and serves in the school’s Non-Stop Service Learning Organization. Both students have excelled in sports and extra-curricular activities during their high school careers.

Through the Ohio Superintendent Evaluation System, the Ridgemont Board approved four specific district goals along with all of the action steps associated with completing those goals in the 2012-2013 school year. Goals include development of mission and vision, completing a communication plan, and continuing through the design for the new building.

Several personnel moves were made in the custodial department including the hiring of J. Mac Geissinger as the new maintenance supervisor as the district prepares for the construction of a state of the art, smart building.

Apryl Ealy, longtime resident and educator at Ridgemont, was granted a professional leave of absence to work with the Ohio Department of Education through the Race to the Top Grant. She will return to Ridgemont at the end of June 2014.

In all future communication about the building project, the community will see a logo of “Building R Future.” This logo was created by alum Craig Holbrook for the express purpose of branding the district’s communication about the project. The board thanked Craig for his talent and dedication to the district.

The Ridgemont Board will meet again on November 29th at five p.m. at the high school library.
