Sheriff Sam Crish reports that deputies set up an undercover operation at the Econo Lodge at 1210 Neubrecht Road.

Jackson Center girls basketball coach Gregg Gooding, 57, was arrested last Wednesday afternoon around five o'clock.

Ottawa Mayor Kenneth Maag, 61, was arrested Monday afternoon around 12:45.

Both were charged with solicitation for prostitution, which is a third-degree misdemeanor.

Gooding posted a $500 bond last Thursday. Arraignment is set for Friday at 2 p.m. in the Lima Municipal Court.

Authorities said the men were in contact with an unnamed woman through telephone and text messages for an extended time period.

Gooding was the girls basketball coach at Jackson Center for 14 years.

The Jackson Center School Board accepted his resignation during a special meeting Monday night.

Athletic Director Scott Elchert is searching for a replacement.
