Michael C. “Mike” Van Buskirk, 60, of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at his home. He was born in Bellefontaine on December 9, 1952, the son of the late Ronald N. Van Buskirk and Dorothy M. (Roach) Van Buskirk who survives in Bellefontaine.
He is also survived by his son, Justin (Melissa) Van Buskirk of Bellefontaine, a sister, Connie Miller of Centerville, OH, his grandchildren, Gavin Michael and Maelee Jo and step grandson, Ethan, a niece, Jami (Pradeep) Kumar of Campbell, CA, and a nephew, Gregg Miller of Franklin, OH.
Mike was a 1971 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and then served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for D.A.B. for 38 years before retiring and then he passed newspapers for the Bellefontaine Examiner. He was an avid sports fan and loved to follow The Ohio State University Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds, and Cleveland Browns. He had a great love for all animals and creatures and was an outdoorsman as well as a novice birdwatcher.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 11:00 am in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff with Pastor Jonathon Bull officiating. Military honors performed by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard are also scheduled.
Memorial contributions may be made to any cancer charity of the donor’s choice.
