Olivia C. Titus

Olivia C. Titus, 86, of Rushsylvania, passed on to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Sterling House, Urbana, Ohio.

She was born on April 4, 1927 in Rushsylvania to the late William Robert and Lulu (McCall) Chapman.

On September 1, 1946, she married Glenno P. Titus in Belle Center and he preceded her in death on June 17, 2010. She also was preceded in death by her siblings, J. Wilbur, Alexander M., Albert M. and Charles M. Chapman, Erma R. Kelly and Mary C. Chapman; granddaughter, Alicia Titus, grandson, Gabriel Titus and great grandson, Titus Warne.

She is survived by her children, Bill of South Vienna, John (Bev) of St. Paris, Steve (Cindy) and Bob (Robin) all of Bellefontaine, Jana (Bobby) Walker, Rick (Kris) all of Rushsylvania and Jodi (George) Lewis of Tierra Verde, FL; 22 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Olivia was the valedictorian of the Class of 1945 of Rushsylvania High School, and attended Ohio University for one year before becoming a homemaker. Olivia worked at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Urbana and after 23 years of service she retired from Mary Rutan Hospital where she worked as a nurse’s tech. She was a member of the Rushsylvania First United Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Whiley Guild. Olivia loved to sing and was active with the Rushsylvania Community Choir and the Christmas Cantata. She also enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and was a former member of the Rushsylvania Garden Club.

In her last years, she had lost the ability to pursue her hobbies but still continued to sing and laugh and cheat at word games. She was well loved by those who knew her and a joy to be around as she continued life without her partner of 64 years. Her capacity for fun never ceased & she seldom complained. She touched numerous lives through her work & church activities and left a legacy of love and joy and acceptance of others. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

In honor of Olivia, the family is asking that those attending the funeral wear purple in some form to please her & make God smile.

Pastor Betsy Coffman conducts a funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2013. Burial is in the Rushsylvania Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rushsylvania First United Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 34, Rushsylvania, OH 43347 or to the Mary Rutan Auxiliary Guild, 205 Palmer Ave., Bellefontaine, OH 43311.
