Ruth G. Irwin, 94, of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013 in the Campbell House, Bellefontaine.
She was born February 12, 1919 in Logan County, the daughter of the late Raymond A. ‘Whitey’ and Glaydes (Thompson) Linn. On April 6, 1946, she married Dr. Glenn Fletcher ‘Doc’ Irwin and he preceded her in death on February 13, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Harris, and her daughter, Nancy J. Irwin, and a sister-in-law, Deborah Linn.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Timothy (Linda) Irwin of Bellefontaine and three daughters, Karen (Michael) Kennedy of Bellefontaine, Janet (Carl) McMullen of Columbus, and Ruthie Lambert of Bellefontaine, one brother, Richard T. Linn of Medford, Oregon, 10 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
Ruth was a 1937 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and longtime member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Bellefontaine. She worked with her husband at the Irwin Animal Clinic. She was a member of the Hilliker YMCA where she enjoyed water aerobics and also belonged to several different Card Clubs. She was an avid quilter and belonged to both sewing and quilting clubs. She loved to travel and later in her life, she loved to ride her bicycle.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine with Rev. Rob Fulton and Gene Marine officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home and again one hour prior to Thursday’s service. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
