Ioda B. Wickliff, 86, of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 at her home. She was born in Cincinnati on May 22, 1927 to the late Samuel C. and Celestia (Baker) Gooch. She was also preceded in death by three sisters Evelyn Gooch, Reba Frazier and Jewel Foraker, and brothers William Gooch and Albert Gooch.
Ody retired in 2011 at the age of 84 from Logan County Jobs & Family Services as a clerical specialist. She was also an Avon representative for nearly 50 years. Ody was a fantastic cook and enjoyed sharing those talents with others. She had a zest for life, a passion for dancing, and was admired by all who knew her. The family would like to thank all her dear friends for the support and companionship over the years. Ody will be sadly missed.
Ody is survived by her daughter Rhonda (David) Fairclough of Swanton, Ohio and sons Monty (deceased wife Arnena) Hamilton of Lima, and Dion (Sue) Wickliff of Zionsville, Indiana; 6 grandchildren: Tammy Ludwig, Tina (Jeffery) Hamilton-Shoemaker, Bethany Hamilton, Christy (Daniel) Tennessen, Monica Hamilton and Matt (Rachel) Beauchamp. She was known as “Grandma the Great” to 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Alma Talbott of Hedgesville, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 5-8pm. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 2pm at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.
