Barbara Ann Hall, 90, of Russells Point, passed away, Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Kingston Residence of Marion, OH.
Barbara was born on April 26, 1923 in Boston, MA, to the late Howard & Sara Robinson-Spears Batchelder. On October 20, 1944, she married Sheldon O. Hall in St. Augustine, FL and he preceded her in death on December 4, 2012. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Junior and Donald.
She is survived by five children, Tim Hall of Sioux St. Marie, MI, Pam (Tim) Combs of Marion, OH, Candace Hall of Columbus, OH, Peggy Ratcliffe of Houston, TX, and Stuart Hall of Lakeview, OH, six grandchildren, Samuel Ratcliffe, Sara (Robert) Tucker, Benjamen (Allison) Combs, Jonathan (Paula) Combs, Kim Hall, and Kris (Spence) Zimmerman, eight great grandchildren, Luke Tucker, Isabelle Combs, Matthew Combs, Allen Hall, Samantha Hall, Jordan Perry, Tori Zimmerman and Landon Combs, a brother, Roger Batchelder of Walpole, MA, a sister-in-law, Mildred Powell of Rawson, OH and a number of beloved nieces and nephews.
Barbara was a graduate of Weymouth High School in Massachusetts. She was a Navy veteran of WWII, and served as a control tower operator. She was a retired librarian for Indian Lake Schools and also retired from the Logan County Library, where she worked at the Lakeview Branch for many years. Barbara was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Lakeview and taught Sunday School for over 30 years. She was also a member of the 20th Century Club and United Methodist Women. She was an avid reader and gardener, and amateur artist who specialized in water color paintings. She also kept a daily journal from 1959 until 2002.
Pastor William Zeller will begin funeral services at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial is in Harmon Cemetery, Gilboa, OH with military honors.
