Phillip Marion Salyer, 69, of Quincy, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 26, 2014 at his home. He was born in Paynesville, Kentucky on February 24, 1945 to the late Curtis and Delma (Williams) Salyer. On November 11, 1977 he married the former Sharon Robinson in Quincy, and she survives.
He is also survived by his children: Mark (Holly) Salyer of Mingo, Tracey (Bob) Salyer-Lowery of Lakeview, Chad (Angie) Salyer of Bellefontaine, Tonya (Dave) Salyer-Hempker of Bellefontaine, Phillip M. Salyer, Jr. of Quincy and Billie Jo (Mike Gillenwater) Salyer of Bellefontaine; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters: Harriett (Norman) Thomas of Lakeview, Brenda (Melvin) Lattimer of Spring Hills, Joy (Phil) Horne of Bellefontaine, Wilma (Jim) Vertress of London; brothers: Bob (Elaine) Salyer of DeGraff, Curtis Salyer of Lakeview and Jack Salyer of Bellefontaine; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son William Alvis Salyer, grandson Donavon Hempker and great-grandson Brenon Martin.
Phillip retired from Airstream in Jackson Center where he worked as an assembler for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, restoring old cars, gardening and being outside. He loved his dogs – Cricket, Baby and Tiny.
Pastor Mark Hina will officiate a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street, DeGraff. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the memorial service. Burial will be at a later date.
