Miriam E. Gillenwater, 96, of Lakeview, OH, passed away Sunday morning, June 29, 2014 at Heartland of Indian Lake.
Miriam was born on July 12, 1917 in Belle Center, OH, to the late Harry & Clara Herron Manahan. She married Moriel Clayton Gillenwater and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Wilbur, and 11 siblings.
Miriam is survived by six children, Judy Gamble of Mesa, AZ, Nancy (Jerry) Gerber of Columbus, OH, Buddy (Edie) Gillenwater of West Virginia, David Gillenwater of Urbana, OH, Gary Gillenwater of Lakeview, and Leanna Pollard of West Union, OH, a sister, Carol Long of Rosewood, OH, a daughter-in-law, Joyce Wilcox of Brooksville, FL, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Miriam was a 1935 graduate of DeGraff High School and a homemaker. She was a member of Russells Point Church of God. When she was able, she was very active in her church and missionary work, and also was an active member of the Young-At-Heart Senior Center in Lakeview. She enjoyed gardening and reading. She loved being with her family.
Reverend Ron Irick will begin funeral services at 1:00 pm, Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Shoffstall Funeral Home North Chapel, 115 North Main St., Lakeview, with visitation two hours prior to services. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her name to The Gideons International, PO Box 304, Bellefontaine, OH 43311.
