Philip L. “Silver Fox” Stephens, 70, of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Mary Rutan Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born on May 29, 1942 in Conway, S.C. to the late Alvie W. & Martha Jane Stanley Stephens. On March 28, 1993, he married Suzan Finnegan in Las Vegas, NV, and she survives in Lakeview.
He is also survived by three daughters, Karen (Bob) Wilson of State College, PA, Teresa (Clint) Still of Mount Sterling, IL, and Lisa (Brian) Essex of Olathe, KS, a stepson, Jared (Molly Cook) Finnegan of Lakeview, 10 grandchildren, Allison Wilson, Tyler Wilson, Olivia Still, Emma Still, Ashton Still, Gauge Essex, Gavin Essex, Ryan Essex, Sebastian Cook-Finnegan, and Berlin Cook-Finnegan, a sister, Alva Jane (Taft) Skipper of Conway, SC, and Hoyt (Patsy) Stephens of Seven Lakes, NC.
Phil worked as Administrator for Bellefontaine Moose Lodge #2563 since 2002, and previously held similar positions at Bellefontaine FOE Aeries #2166 and Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533. He was a veteran of the South Carolina National Guard. He was a member of Hi-Point FOE Aeries #2166, and Bellefontaine Moose Lodge #2563, all of Bellefontaine, Doyle R. Miller Amvets Post #39 of Lakeview, and was a Past Mason. He recently earned the Degree of Pilgrim as a member of Moose. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, camping, riding his motorcycle and was a member of Moose Riders.
Pilgrim services will begin at 7:00 pm, Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview with visitation from 4-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Mooseheart and Moosehaven.
