Mary Margaret Porter, 88, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
She was born on September 20, 1923 in Canton to the late E.D. and Laura L. (Brown) Simpson. On June 21, 1951 she married Guy “Pinkie” LeRoy Porter in Bellefontaine and he preceded her in death on July 28, 1982. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Lou Barger, and a brother-in-law, William C. Turner.
Surviving are 3 sons, Guy Earl Porter, Dana Emerald Porter, both of Bellefontaine, and Darrell Lee (Roberta) Porter of DeGraff; daughter, Thursa Porter of Bellefontaine; sister, Joan Jacqueline Turner of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Jessica Fry Shoe, Daniela Angel, Gregory Cloninger, Darrell Porter Jr., Michael Porter, Heather (Porter) Neer, and Christina Porter; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A homemaker, Mary was a member of the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine. She was also a member of the Women Auxiliaries of the Eagles, AmVets and American Legion. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, word searches and the TV Guide. Mary loved her family, children and grandchildren.
Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate at an 11:00 am memorial service on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine.
