Richard L. “Rich” Houchin

Richard L. “Rich” Houchin, 59, of Lakeview, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, OH.

He was born on March 17, 1952 in Bellefontaine, OH to the late Richard J. & Jane Sturm Houchin. He was also preceded in death by a son, Scott Wyen, three grandchildren, Corey, Nicole and Katie, and mother-in-law, Norma Sacksteder. On May 2, 1983, he married the former Jayne Sacksteder in Greenville, OH and she survives.

He is also survived by seven children, Stacy (Roberto) Hubbard of Russells Point, OH, Rick (Candi) Houchin of Alpena, MI, Lori (John) Albers of Fort Loramie, OH, Shannon (Scott Cox) Wyen of Albemarle, NC, Patti (Dan) Serey of Miamisburg, OH, Sandra (Jeremy) Lowery of Bellefontaine, OH, and Kelly (Abby) Houchin of Fort Loramie, OH, 19 grandchildren, Skyler, Steven, Courtney, Austin, Taylor, Brenna, Gracie, Bradley, Jude, Jessica, Matt, Jordon, Mackenzie, Hannah, Addison, Gage, Gavynn, Gabriel, Kyleigh, three sisters, Linda (Don) Fox of Millbury, OH, Vikki (Steve) Carnes, and Susie (Mike) Troth, both of Bellefontaine, OH and a brother, Robert (Ruthann) Houchin of Bellefontaine, and several nieces and nephews.

Rich was a 1970 graduate of Bellefontaine High School. He was a production associate at Honda ELP, East Liberty, OH for 10 years. He was a member of Crossroads Church of God, Lima and Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533, Lakeview. Rich enjoyed doing anything with his family, playing with his grandchildren, and fixing a variety of things in his garage.

Pastor Randy Bargerstock conducts a funeral services at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 6th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview. Internment is at Huntsville Cemetery, Huntsville, Ohio.

Memorial Contribution may be given in his name to the Indian Lake State Park or Indian Lake EMS.

Condolences can be expressed at condolences@shoffstallfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are in the care of Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview.
