Anita J. Halterman

Anita J. Halterman, 49, of Lakeview, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at Lima Memorial Hospital after a courageous six-year battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born on July 28, 1963 at Ft. Braggs, NC, the daughter of the late William C. & Dorothy E. Wilmoth. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Ruder.

Anita is survived by her husband, Ronald C. Halterman, Jr., whom she married on February 28, 1998 in Belle Center, OH. Also surviving are four children, Jarrid Kimble of Lakeview, Janae Kimble of Fairfield, OH, Cody Dotson of Ross, OH and Rylee Halterman of Lakeview, three step-daughters, Marissa Halterman of Wapakoneta, OH, Shiana Walls of Delphos, OH, and Keilara Halterman of Cridersville, OH, three grandchildren, Jayla Deufemia, Justice Kimble and Kainen Famons, a brother, Marty Johnson, a sister, Kelly Johnson, and “Granny” Dorthy Ellis of Hillsboro, OH.

Anita was a 1981 graduate of Fairfield High School. She worked at HAM Marysville Plant in the paint department for 12 years before retiring due to her illness. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, decorating for all holidays with Halloween and Christmas being her favorites. An avid animal lover, she cared for and raised dogs, chickens and bunnies. She was proud of her involvement with the Lakeview Ball Association and successfully operated the concession stand the past two years. She had been very active with the North Logan Soccer Association and was a former President and Vice President. She liked tanning because, “Tanning makes you feel good.” She was a kind, caring and generous person who always was willing to help people, especially children, when she found them in need.

A memorial service will begin at 5:00 pm, Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Doyle R. Miller Amvets Post #39, Lakeview, followed by a benefit auction to assist Anita’s family with medical expenses.

Arrangements are in the care of Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview. Condolences may be expressed at condolences@shoffstallfuneralhome.com.
