Steven L. Skidmore

Steven L. Skidmore, 63, of Bellefontaine, passed away in his home surrounded by his family on Friday evening October 12, 2012. He was born in Bellefontaine on December 29, 1948 the son of DeWeese L. and Amy K. (Neer) Skidmore. His mother survives and lives in West Liberty.

On June 7, 1975 in Bellefontaine Steve married Dottie L. McDonal and she survives in Bellefontaine. Also surviving are two children Cory (Barbara) Skidmore of Marysville and Aryelle (Charles) Howe of Grelton, OH.; grandchildren Sophia and Flynn Skidmore; Chloe and Carter Howe; and brother Timothy D. (Kathleen) Skidmore of Bellefontaine.

Steve graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1967 and the FBI Academy at Quantico, VA. He had worked for the Logan County Sheriff's Office and Logan County Prosecutor's Office. Steve was currently working at Logan County Family Courts.

Steve was a member of the Bellefontaine First United Methodist Church and a former Scout Master of Troop #182, Past President of Bellefontaine Kiwanis Club, and Past President and Life Member of Logan Fish and Game. He was an active member of the Logan County Historical Society. Steve enjoyed being in the woods deer and turkey hunting and French and Indian War reenactment. Steve served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

Those who knew Steve understood he never met a stranger. It was not important for him to get the last laugh; however, he always got a laugh.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine and one hour before services which are Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home officiated by Pastors Ed Beale and Jeff Willetts. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.

Memorial contributions can be made to the James Cancer Center for CLL Research or to the Boy Scouts of America Tecumseh Council.
