Betty B. Johnson, 98, of Bellefontaine, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Green Hills Center, West Liberty.
She was born on February 21, 1914 in Logan County to the late Arthur L. and Tess (Short) Willits. On August 5, 1933 she married Samuel “Sewell” Johnson and he preceded her in death on December 2, 2003. Also preceding her in death was an infant son, Stephen Arthur Johnson, two brothers, and 3 sisters.
Surviving are her children, Seth (Joanna) Johnson of Port Hueneme, CA, Sabra A. Hodnett of Orlando, FL, Betsy E. Smith and Rebecca R. (Bill) Gibson, both of Bellefontaine; her grandchildren, Cathy Jo, Debby, Michael, Tammy, Donald, Heidi, Hope, Cynthia, James, Priscilla Betty Ruth and Seth; 12 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Betty was a 1932 graduate of Monroe High School and was a member of the First Christian Church, Bellefontaine where she taught Sunday School to the young children. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. She took care of children and loved her grandchildren, spending time with her family and enjoyed gardening and flowers.
Gene Marine will officiate at a 2:00 pm funeral service on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty where friends may call from 12 noon to 2:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.
