Franklin A. “Andy” Hites, 71, of Huntsville, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at his residence.
He was born in Allen County, Ohio on January 19, 1941, a son of the late Harley Edwin and Clara Ellen (Hatcher) Hites. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Elsie Taylor, Calista Hamilton, Martha Offenbacher, Freda Bayer, Phyllis Allen, Susan Krouskop and Millie Wills and a brother, Willis Hites.
On August 29, 1961 in Winchester, Indiana, he married the former Charlotte Mees and she survives along with sons, Ryan (Tessca) Hites of Bellefontaine and Curtis (Mika) Hites of Huntsville; 2 grandchildren, Hannah and Jacob Hites; 3 step-grandchildren, Tiffany Bridges, Zack Weldy and Chance Weldy; 3 sisters, Julia (Robert) Ferguson of Huntsville, Maxine Downing of Bellefontaine, Joyce (Robert) Houshel of New Mexico and numerous nieces and nephews.
He retired as a security guard with Acrux in 2006.
An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Germany. He was also a member of the Mt. Tabor Church of God, attended Washington Local Schools and loved the outdoors and gardening. He enjoyed spending time with his family and vacations.
Brother Kerry Snapp will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine where friends may call on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff with members of the Logan County Honor Guard providing military honors.
