Walter J. Overholser, 76, of Indian Lake, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2012 after a courageous 2.5-year battle with cancer.
He was born on April 1, 1936 in Piqua, OH to the late Everette & Josephine Lindsay Overholser. He was also preceded in death by a step-grandchild.
He is survived by his loving wife of 17 year, Carol Jean Thrush Turner, whom he married on April 27, 1995 at Myrtle Beach, SC. He is also survived by four children, Bob Overholser of Venice, FL, Walt (Toni) Overholser and Angi Shafer, both of Dayton, OH, and Jennifer Loperfito of Orlando, FL, two stepsons, Tadd (Regina) Turner of Harrod, OH, and Chris (Holly) Turner of Waynesfield, OH, 10 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and a brother, Roger (Jan) Overholser of Land of Lakes, FL.
Walt was a member of the Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533, Indian Lake Eagles Aeries #3615, and Lima B. P. O. Elks Lodge #54. He and his wife owned and operated McDonald’s Pottery and Gifts at Indian Lake. He was also a founding member of the Turkeyfoot Benefit Crew.
Per his wishes, graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Willow Branch Cemetery, Waynesfield. Casual dress is requested. A celebration of Walt’s life will then be held from 12-3 pm Saturday at Froggy’s at Indian Lake.
In respecting Walt’s wishes, in lieu of flowers or contributions, the family requests that random acts of kindness are performed.
