Howard F. Wilkins, 48, of Cable, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013 as a result of a snowmobile accident.
He was born on November 21, 1964 in Urbana, Ohio, a son of the late Frederick Howard Wilkins and Shirley Jean (Smith) Thurman whom survives in Urbana.
On December 21, 1996 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee he married the former Liesl Kauffman and she survives along with sons, Zane and Samuel Wilkins both at home; sister, Melissa (Anthony ) Reed of Urbana; brothers, Kelvin (Pam) Wilkins and Darrel (Deb Farmer) Wilkins both of Cable; nephews, Bryant & Braden Wilkins and Cody & Dylan Reed along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was a farmer and hoof trimmer.
He attended Mount Carmel Friends Church, 1983 graduate of West Liberty High School and a member of Mechanicsburg Lodge #113 F&AM #113. A Salem Township Trustee, he was involved in 4-H with his boys and loved to be outside, hunting, fishing and loved to talk and tell stories.
An 11:00 a.m. funeral will be conducted by Pastor Michael Will on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Oak Grove Mennonite Church, West Liberty. Friends may call on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Champaign County.
Memorial contributions may be made to a fund set up for the Wilkins boys college fund, % People’s Savings & Loan, 110 North Detroit Street, West Liberty, Ohio 43357.
