Richard L. Short, formerly of Bellefontaine and The Gables in Marysville, passed away on Monday March 4, 2013 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Columbus.
He was born on November 27, 1928 in Champaign County to the late Arthur and Bertha (Fry) Short.
On February 5, 1950 he married the former Dorothy Mae Kilgore in Rushsylvania and she preceded him in death on October 19, 2008. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Short, and his brothers, Wilbur and William Short.
Surviving are his children, Doug (Jan) Short of Marysville and Joyce (Leroy) Peters of Moore, OK; grandchildren, Heather Gayle (Robert) Kalkbrenner, Kevin (Amanda) Peters, and Lindsey and Braden Short; and a great grandchild, Myriah Kalkbrenner.
A member of the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine, Richard loved to camp, fly model airplanes, and was a Cincinnati Reds fan.
Pastor F. Michael Valentine will officiate at a 10:30 am funeral service on Friday, March 8th at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine where friends may call from 5 to 7 on Thursday, March 7th. Burial will be in the Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
