West Liberty-Salem junior Karlie Wilbur will be competing in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase North (QDSN) at Kent State University on Jan. 4 and 5. The QDSN is now in its 19th season and is one of the largest fast-pitch softball events in the nation.
This will be Karlie’s second trip to the QDSN, having shined at last year’s event, winning an MVP award for her play. Karlie plays outfield and first base and is known to wield a mean bat at the plate and for her base running prowess.
The QDSN – and its sister showcase QDS South – attracts about 2,000 athletes from over 30 states and two Canadian provinces. The QDSN picks athletes who ‘apply’ to the event and are selected to participate based on ability, potential, academics, and coaches’ requests and referrals.
Karlie plays summer softball for the Cinci Static 18u Exposure team.
