Louie Vito had a strong run in the final Olympic halfpipe quarterfinal Sunday afternoon at Mammoth Mountain, California, but he was unable to secure a spot on Team USA for Sochi.
The Bellefontaine native finished fourth in the final qualifier with a 90.4.

Two-time gold medalist Shaun White won Sunday's event with a 96.6. Danny Davis followed with a 95 and Ben Ferguson was third with a 93.8.

White, Davis, Greg Bretz, and 20-year-old rookie Taylor Gold will represent our country next month.
Louie needed a big push with three qualifying events over the weekend.
On Friday, he finished fourth and fifth.
In 2010, Vito rode to a fifth-place finish at the Vancouver Games.
Louie will compete at the X-Games in Aspen, Colorado this week. He will also serve as a host on ESPN.
The Olympics begin February 6th.
