Updated: Jr. Chiefs, Tigers fare well in weekend tournament

The Bellefontaine Middle School wrestling team finished 2nd out of 17 teams at the Urbana Invitational Saturday.

The Chieftains placed 10 out of 12 wrestlers and scored 160 points.

Phil Francis won the 128-pound championship, while Dezmin Lyburtus, Austin McIntosh, and Braden Jacobs were all second.

Dawson Miller, Major Stratton, and Bruno Pattison placed third.

Adding fourth-place finishes were Trey Henderson, Chase Schmittauer, and Zack Close.

For West Liberty-Salem, Gaven Anderson was second. Tevon McNutt and Michael Kelly finished third.

In high school action, West Liberty-Salem wrestled in the Sidney Invitational on Saturday.

Josh Cordell won his weight class and went 5-0.

Tanner Workman, Charlie Williams, and Aaron Kindler each went 1-3.
