Balanced attack leads Triad past Northeastern – Basketball finals

Several area basketball teams hit the court Thursday night.

The Triad varsity girls defeated host Northeastern 58-44.

Four Cardinals were in double figures.

Jenna Ober had 18 points, Nicole Simonelli tossed in 12, Abby Ehrenborg scored 11, and Jenna Welty added 10.

Triad moves to 8-6 overall and 6-4 in the OHC. They will visit Springfield Catholic Saturday at 3 p.m.

The Riverside varsity girls lost to visiting Upper Scioto Valley 40-34.

Brooke Hickey had 24 points.

For USV, Bree Mullins scored 14 and Brittany Holbrook poured in 12.

The Pirates are 6-10 overall and 2-2 in the NWCC.

The West Liberty-Salem JV girls fell to Russia 39-20.

Abigail Rabenstein had 8 points.

Jr. High:

The Bellefontaine 8th grade boys beat Northridge 53-43.

Spencer George had 18 points, Tommy Belser tossed in 10, and Evan Smith and Cameron Mitchell each added 8.

The Chiefs are 8-3.

The Bellefontaine 7th grade boys lost to Northridge 39-34.

Jack Clement had 19 points. Aaron Malarkey and Derek McNutt each added 4.

The Indian Lake 8th grade boys overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to edge Benjamin Logan 40-39.

Collin Coburn poured in 16 points. Kaleb Wierick and Kale Shoffner each added 12.

For Benjamin Logan, Grant Ward had 11 points, Curtis Gadson dropped in 10, and Daniel McPherson added 6.

The Lakers (8-5) will visit Mad River next Thursday.

The Benjamin Logan 7th grade boys handled Indian Lake 55-35.

Bryce Schmidt scored a game-high 19 points, Nolan Robson had 8, Cole Jones and Zach Deardorff each tossed in 6, and Garret Dixon added 5.

The Riverside 8th grade boys ran past Ridgemont 44-20.

Trey Lane had 18 points, Gavin Stallard fired in 9, and Justin Ritzma scored 8.

The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade boys outscored Greeneview 49-33.

James Loffing had 29 points and Neil Markin scored 7.

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade boys beat Greeneview 27-20.

Kasey Kite had 8 points.

The Bellefontaine 8th grade girls bounced Northridge 42-14.

Emily Mitchell had 18 points and 7 steals, Zoe Price recorded 8 points and 6 steals, and Kaitlyn Baughman added 5 points.

The Bellefontaine 7th grade girls beat Northridge 34-18.

Aubrey Stolly had 14 points, Anne West poured in 7, and Hara Brown scored 5.

The Benjamin Logan 8th grade girls routed Indian Lake 51-12.

Nikki Current had another triple-double with 28 points, 12 steals, and 10 rebounds.

Jazi Reisinger scored 10 and Lauryn LeVan and Mackenzie McManus each added 4.

The Raiders are 12-1.

For Indian Lake, Mollie Swygart and Skylar Timbrook each scored 6.

The Benjamin Logan 7th grade girls edged Indian Lake 26-23.

Haley Wilson had 10 points and Olivia Roose scored 6.

For Indian Lake, Nia Worrell had 9 points.

The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade girls fell to Greeneview 29-24.

The Tigers are 15-1.

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade girls beat Greeneview 23-16.

The Tigers are 9-7 overall and 8-6 in the OHC.
