Updated: Chiefs rally falls short - Basketball scoreboard (Audio included)

BHS timeoutSeveral area basketball teams played Monday night.

The Bellefontaine varsity boys lost to visiting Springfield Shawnee 53-47 on WBLL.

The Braves jumped out to a 27-13 halftime lead.

They increased their advantage to 39-20 midway through the third quarter.

The Chiefs responded with a 27-8 run to tie the game at 47-47 with less than three minutes remaining.

Shawnee junior guard Jaden Greenwood drilled a three-pointer about a minute later. He scored a game-high 14 points and was named the Steve Austin's Auto Group Player of the Game.

A.J. Gorham and Max Oyer each scored 13 in the loss. Tristin Tillman added 11.

The Chiefs struggled with their shooting, hitting 1-of-7 three-pointers. They only made 2-of-9 free throws in the first half.

With the win, Springfield Shawnee forced a three-way tie in the CBC Kenton Trail division. Bellefontaine, Shawnee, and Tecumseh are 6-2 in league play.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity girls fell at Mechanicsburg 53-38.

Jamie Peterson had 17 points and 16 rebounds.

Senior Kaylin Frederick added 11 points.

WLS is 11-8 overall.

The JV Tigers beat the Indians 37-19.

Kiana Reames scored 9.

The Benjamin Logan varsity girls beat Urbana 44-40.

The Raiders outscored the Hillclimbers 22-16 in the final quarter to snap a ten-game skid.

Jessica Sosby had 11 points and hit 3 three-pointers.

Hayley Boysel scored 10.

The JV Raiders defeated Urbana 33-24.

Sadie Inglin poured in 18 points.

The Triad varsity girls lost to visiting Fairbanks 54-50.

Freshman Abby Ehrenborg dropped in 14 points.

Triad is 9-9; Fairbanks moves to 7-11.

The JV Panthers defeated the Cardinals 29-17.

Triad will visit North Union Wednesday night at 6:00.

Jr. High CBC Tournament:

The Bellefontaine 8th grade girls fell to Springfield Shawnee 43-33.

Zoe Price had 17 points and Emily Mitchell added 9.

The Bellefontaine 7th grade girls beat Benjamin Logan 34-17.

Aubrey Stolly tossed in 15 points. Anne West recorded 10 points and 7 rebounds.

The Chiefs will continue tournament play Thursday at Tipp City at 5:30.

For Benjamin Logan, LeAnn Regula had 5 points, Pamela Kelly scored 4, and Grace Deardurff added 3.

The Benjamin Logan 8th grade girls throttled Northwestern 57-8.

Nikki Current scored 20, Jazi Reisinger dropped in 17, and Stevie Plikerd had a season-high 8 points.

The Calvary Christian Jr. High White team lost to Miami Valley 38-13 in non-conference play.

Cody Kuhn scored 4 points and Derek Robb hit a three-pointer in the loss.

The Spartans next opponent will be Oakstone Academy.
