Area wrestlers fared extremely well as the 2014 OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament wrapped up on Saturday at the Jerome Schottenstein Center in Columbus.
Graham High School marked another impressive year as they were crowned Division II Champions for a record 14th consecutive season, racking up 185.5 points.
The Falcons brought home four individual state titles in Saturday night’s championship round. Those wrestlers include junior Eli Stickley at 113 pounds, freshman Kyle Lawson at 138, senior Micah Jordan at 145, and sophomore Alex Marinelli at 160.
Jordan marked his fourth state title after pinning Clyde’s Beau Minnick in 1:44, sending the Value City Arena crowd to its feet.
Also placing for Graham was sophomore Brent Moore, taking second in the 132 class.
The Falcons were not alone in bringing state titles back to Champaign County after the three-day tournament.
Mechanicsburg freshman Kaleb Romero at 138 pounds and senior Austin Reese at 160 pounds each earned state titles.
Romero and Reese are the third and fourth Mechanicsburg wrestlers to earn individual state championships. The duo drove the school to a record fourth place in Division III.
Urbana sophomore 182-pound Jack Harris fell in his championship bout 5-4.
Indian Lake finished tenth in team standings, tallying 39 points.
All three placing Lakers won in their final matches.
145-pound Heath Lange and 152-pound Reyse Wallbrown each wrestled to third while L.J. Henderson took seventh in the 182 class.
