The West Liberty-Salem girls track and field team won a five-team meet it hosted on Tuesday evening.
Team Scores: 1st WLS 112.5, 2nd Greenon 104.5, 3rd Bellefontaine 68, 4th Southeastern 39, 5th Calvary Christian 6
First place finishers for WLS were Madison Gantz in shot put and discus, Abigail Rabenstein in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, and Morgan Freyhof in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Placing second for the Lady Tigers were Lauren Godwin in discus, Leah Cole 400 meter dash, Caylee Karg 300 meter hurdles, Jenna Magnuson 3200 meter run, Alyssa Strickland in the 1600 and 800 meter runs, and the 4x800, 4x100, and 4x400 relay teams.
Head coach Ann Vogel said, "This was a rust buster for us, and I'm pleased with the way the girls came out and competed. There is always room for improvement this early in the season, but overall it was a solid team effort for our first meet."
WLS competes at the Versailles Lady Tiger Classique on Thursday evening.

The West Liberty-Salem boys track team hosted a five-team (Bellefontaine, Greenon, Southeastern, Calvary Christian, WLS) meet on Tuesday. It was a very productive first meet as WLS won all 4 relays and had 6 individual first place finishers. WLS was led by seniors Conner Karg and Taylor Cordell who each had 2 individual first-place finishes and each were part of 2 winning relays. The team placed second overall with 107 points. The Tigers will compete at the Versailles Invitational on Saturday. Field events will begin at 9:00 am and running events at 9:30 am.
