A local swimmer recently advanced to the youth nationals.
Indian Lake sophomore Skyler Tavenner qualified in the 50 free during a competition in Cincinnati earlier this month.
The national meet will be in Indianapolis in late July.
Last summer, Tavenner dominated the AAU Jr. Olympics at the University of Michigan.
He won 6 gold medals.
He won gold in the 200 meter IM, 100 meter butterfly, 50 meter freestyle, 100 meter backstroke, 100 meter freestyle, and the 200 meter backstroke.
Tavenner won a silver in the 200 meter freestyle and a bronze in the 100 meter breaststroke.
It was the first time Skyler competed at the Jr. Olympics.
