Bellefontaine youth shine at Hershey State Track Meet

Lauren CarterThe Bellefontaine Parks and Recreation track and field team competed at the Hershey State Track and Field meet Saturday in Reynoldsburg. 

Lauren Carter competed in the 11-12 girls category and was first in the 100 meter run (14.14) and the softball throw (88’-2”). 

Coach Janet Dunn said Lauren is a very powerful runner both in athletic ability and in her spirit.

Garrett Jenkins in 13-14 boys was third in the 800 meter run (2:34.24, his PR) and third in the softball throw.

Kellen Thomas in 9-10 boys was third in the standing long jump (7’-4”) and fourth in the 100 meters (14.75).

Brandon Hayes in 13-14 boys was fourth in the standing long jump (7’-1”) and fourth in the 200 meter run with a personal best at 27.83.

In the 4x100 meter relay in 9-10 girls coming in second were Mallory Kuhn, Julia Nelson, Emma Middaugh, and Montana Buck (1:11.63).

Mallory Kuhn was third in the 100 meter run (17:32), Montana Buck finished third in the 400 (1:22.05), Emma Middaugh was fourth in the softball throw (67’-1”).

In 9-10 boys Max Varner was fourth in the 100 meter run (16.42) and fifth in the 400 (1:21.52).

In 11-12 girls the 4x100 relay team of Gabby Stolly, Meredith McClain, Lauren Carter, and Makayla Hayes were fourth with a time of 1:05.83.

Coming in second was the 11-12 boys 4x100 relay team of Declan Ashcraft, Gabriel Solano, Brady Burden, and Colton Costin (1:03.76).

In the 13-14 girls 1600 meter run, Chelsea Burkhammer was fourth (7:00.05).
