The Riverside Acme baseball team edged top-seeded Bellefontaine 3-2 at Blue Jacket Park Wednesday night to advance to the sectional championship.
The game started Tuesday night. Play was halted in the top of the third inning because of lightning. Riverside led 1-0.
When play resumed Wednesday, Caleb Stevens delivered a sacrifice bunt to advance Dillon Roof to second base.
Landon Kelsey then belted a double to score Roof.
Connor Cotterman followed with an RBI single.
Kelsey started and earned the win. He went 5 1/3 innings, struck out three, and gave up one run.
Tanner Lane recorded the save.
Roof had a hit and scored twice.
Cotterman was 2-for-2.
Riverside (8-2) will play Bellefontaine in the sectional championship tonight at six o'clock.
Both teams have already advanced to the district tournament.
