Updated: Volleyball, Soccer results Saturday

The West Liberty-Salem varsity volleyball team defeated visiting Riverside in 4 sets Saturday 25-17, 25-22, 24-26, 25-22.

Jamie Peterson of the Lady Tigers had 20 kills and 7 aces. Kylee Hormann had 12 kills and 4 aces. 

Kylie Gilroy recorded 30 assists and Tory Cordell added 2 solo blocks.

The JV Pirates won 25-7, 25-15.

The Riverside junior high volleyball team lost both matches in a tri-match.

The Lady Pirates lost to Hardin Northern 25-1, 25-2 and Lima Temple Christian 25-12, 25-8.

Maddie Bowman had 9 passes and 3 serves, Ashley Russell 7 passes and 2 serves, and Kaylyn Wren had 16 passes. 

Their next action will be another tri-match against the Lady Hillclimbers and Triad at Urbana.

In girls high school soccer action, Benjamin Logan over Kenton 6-1, winning their season opener. 

Kenzie Heater led the Lady Raiders with 3 goals.

Taylor Coy, Shelby Kramer, and Hayley Boysel all added goals for Benjamin Logan.

Goalie Darian Rockhold had a strong performance with 7 saves.

Benjamin Logan will entertain Botkins Monday at 5 pm.

The Bellefontaine varsity boys fell to visiting Marysville 9-1.

The Monarchs raced out to a 6-1 halftime lead.

Matt Voss scored for the Chiefs.

Aaron Wisner had the assist.

The JV Chiefs lost to Marysville 10-0.

10u soccer action:

Calvary Christian #1 won 16-5. 

Michael Rostafer had 7 goals to lead the Spartans, Trevor Berry added 5 in the victory, with Max Varner netting 2 goals. 

Calvary #2 outscored Waynesfield 11-1. 

Kelvin Ong scored 4 goals. Gabriel Salmonowicz, Evan Patton, and Anna Kratz each added 2 goals. 

Emma Patton, Erin Young, and Zeke Reynolds had great defensive efforts.

Huntsville defeated North Logan 4-1. 

Rece Kimmel had 2 goals. Ava Shroyer and Preston Bothel added 1 goal each. 

Goalies Braden Dempster and Dawson Finfrock anchored the defense.

8u soccer: 

Indian Lake beat Calvary #2 5-1.

Joshua Carnes had the only goal for the Spartans.

6u soccer:

Lakeview B defeated Calvary Christian 6-2.

Emma Tackett and Izick Heading scored for the winners.

Huntsville #4 edged North Logan #3 2-1.

Griffin Schaub scored both goals for Huntsville.

Schaub and Matthew Culp played well in goal.

Riley Shaner, Evie Wagner, Colin Bendler, and Tyler Tidwell had strong games.
