McClure and Gump lead Chiefs to home court win, Tigers edge rival Riverside (Audio included)

Senior Connor McClure hit seven three-pointers in the first half to lift the Bellefontaine Chiefs past visiting Northwestern 55-42 Tuesday night on WBLL.

McClure's 21 points earned him Steve Austin's Player of the Game honors.

Matt Gump tallied 16 points for Chiefs.

Bellefontaine never trailed and raced out to a 30-14 halftime lead.

The Warriors cut the deficit to nine in the fouth quarter.

Moments later, Gump delivered a three-point play to help seal the win.

The Chiefs connected on 11 three-pointers.

For Northwestern, Cody Lough scored 12 points, Jesse Aukerman hit 11 points, and Tevin Springs added 10 points.

The Warriors fall to 3-9.

The Chiefs improve to 7-6 and host Tipp City Friday night on 1390 WBLL.

The JV Chiefs (7-6) edged Northwestern 35-32.

The Tigers outscored the Pirates 23-18 in the second half.

Landon Hormann had a game-high 12 points.

WLS improves to 5-8 overall.

For Riverside, Eric Egbert and Kyle Hurley each scored 9 points.

The Pirates fall to 5-7.

The JV Tigers won 49-46.

Todd Pease scored 12 points and Ben Burden added 11.

For Riverside, Kolt Shough had 14 points and Tristan Mechling tossed in 12.

Jr. High:

The Riverside 8th grade boys team fell to Lima Perry 54-49.

Jesse Kean had 29 points, Landon Kelsey recorded 10 points, and Ross Stevens added 5 points.

The Pirates are 10-2.

The Riverside 7th grade boys lost to Lima Perry 48-24.

Trey Helmlinger had 8 points and Hayden Robinson dropped in 6 points.

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade girls defeated rival Mechanicsburg 30-19.

Mikalia McIntosh had 15 points and 14 rebounds. Lily Yoder tallied 10 points and 5 steals.

The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade girls stifled Mechanicsburg 46-9.

Madison Oelker led the attack with 12 points and 4 assists. Jamie Peterson recorded 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
