Updated: Tigers defeat Fairbanks, Calvary rolls – Saturday soccer results

Soccer fields were busy on Saturday.

High School:

The West Liberty-Salem varsity boys soccer team defeated host Fairbanks in an OHC match 7-2.

Neil Markin led the team by scoring 4 goals. Ethan Cole had 4 assists and 1 goal. Raiph LeVan scored 2 goals and had 1 assist. Ian Wolfe chipped in 1 assist as well. Elias Kirker-Napiorkowski had 2 saves in goal while Isaac Riblet had 1 save.

The Tigers are 11-2. The team plays at home this Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Jackson Center.

The Bellefontaine varsity boys soccer team battled Troy to a 1-1 tie at AcuSport Stadium.

The game was scoreless at the half.

The Trojans scored with 20 minutes remaining.

BHS standout Daunté George had the tying goal as time expired.

Marcus Walker delivered the assist.

Drew Jackson made 17 saves.

Bellefontaine is 10-3-1. They will play at Tecumseh for the league title Wednesday night.

The JV Chiefs played Troy to a scoreless tie.

Keepers Ryan Johnson and Derek Stonerock combined for the shutout.

The reserve team is 10-2-1.

The Calvary Christian varsity soccer team moved to 11-0 after two victories this week.

The Spartans first traveled to Mansfield to take on Mansfield Temple and left with a 9-3 victory. Scoring for CCS was Tyler Reinhard (3), Andrew Reinhard (3), Josh Kilgore, Matt Bender, and Noah LaBelle.

The Spartans had a 13-6 advantage in shots on goal for the night.

Garrett Criner, Dylan Jordan, and Andrew Reinhard shared goalie duties for the Spartans.

The Spartans also traveled to Dayton and left with a 4-2 victory over Dominion Academy.

CCS trailed early in the game but went into the half with a 3-1 lead after a hat trick from senior Tyler Reinhard.

Dominion Academy scored 15 minutes into the second half but the Spartans put the game away after a 69th minute goal from Jon Salmonowicz that put CCS up 4-2.

Salmonowicz finished with a goal and 2 assists on the night while Matt Bender also picked up an assist.

The Spartans will next travel to Sidney to take on the Eagles.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity girls team defeated host Fairbanks 5-1.

Gabby Hollar recorded a hat trick. Grace Estes and Ally Smith each added a goal.

Laine Godwin and Sophie Cole each delivered 2 assists. Gabby Hollar added an assist.

Rachel McGill had 12 saves in goal.

WL-S is 12-0-0 (6-0-0). Their next game is Monday at 5:30 at Anna.

Jr. High:

The Calvary Christian Spartans won 4-1 over Indian Lake #1.

Scoring for the Spartans were Gabe Salmonowicz with 2 goals, Kelvin Ong and Isaac Reinhard with a goal each. Caleb King had an assist and Adeline Fearon, Kelvin and Isaac all played well in goal.

U13:

Calvary Christian defeated Waynesfield 7-1.

Calvary was led offensively by Evan Patton and Caleb King with 2 goals each. Clay Howard, Jordan Appleton, Abigail Reinhard all scored 1 goal for the Spartans. Daniel Young had an assist in the win. Josh Carnes, Brody Boy, and Lexi Reames all played excellent defense for Calvary.

Calvary is 7-0.

Huntsville had a doubleheader in Belle Center.

The first game saw Huntsville defeat North Logan 8-2.

Rece Kimmel and Aidan Todd each scored 3 goals.

Reese Shepard and Cameron Freyhof each added a goal.

In the second game, Huntsville defeated Quincy 5-1.

Todd, Kimmel, Alex Barhorst, Ryan Culp, and Cameron Shepard each scored.

U11:

Calvary Christian tied Huntsville #2 2-2.

Fletch Lambert first scored for Calvary on an assist from Laelle Thompson.

Lincoln Roell scored the second goal for Calvary on an assist from Kaylie Carter.

Huntsville #1 ran past Indian Lake 11-0.

Riley Shaner and Matthew Culp each scored twice.

Augusta Biederman, Jada Shroyer, Kahne Ferguson, Aidan Stinebaugh, Myiah Ankrom, Jenna Cline, and Olivia Hurley each added a goal.

U9:

Huntsville #2 defeated Calvary #1 3-1.

Rya Pequignot scored 2 goals and Will Faler had one goal.

Gary Hutton had a strong game at the midfield position.

Jace Ellis, Drew Stinebaugh, Anara Shroyer, Kierce Ginn, and Karis Martini anchored the defense for Huntsville.

For Calvary, Seth Palmer scored off an assist from Anderson Konz.

Caleb Gantz, Dane Reames, and Graham Trittschuh played strong defense.

U8:

The Huntsville #2 soccer team lost their game against Waynesfield #2 4-2.

Cale Buchenroth and Claire Tidwell scored goals for Huntsville. Mya Schroeder had an assist.

U7:

Calvary lost to Waynesfield-Goshen 10-2.

Caroline Moore scored twice. Oliver Jarvis had an assit.

Other youth:

Huntsville #3 blanked Waynesfield 13-0.

Cooper Hall, Collin Bendler, Carson Clary, and Maddy Miller each scored twice.

Chazlance Moore, Jackson Snipes, Ava Watson, Gavin Spring, and Dalton each added a goal.

Huntsville #1 defeated Indian Lake 4-2.

Bennett Shaner, Miller Hall, Adeline Schulz, and Mila Hawkins each scored.
