Updated: Most wins in a season by WL-S boys – Saturday soccer recap

Local soccer fields were busy on Saturday.

High School

The West Liberty-Salem varsity boys soccer team earned its 13th victory of the season by defeating Springfield Shawnee 5-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The win marks the most wins ever in a season by a boys team at WL-S.

Neil Markin led the Tigers in scoring with 2 goals.

Raiph LeVan, Ethan Cole, and Jacob VanHorn each added a goal.

Ethan Cole registered 2 assists while Lance Baldwin had 1.

Elias Kirker-Napiorkowski had 3 saves in goal.

Logan Campbell added 1 save.

The Tigers final regular season game is at Greenon this Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Jr. High

Calvary Christian played two games on Saturday.

The Spartans lost to Mars Hill 6-2 in an Ohio Christian School state tournament game at Calvary Fields.

Gabe Salmonowicz and Kelvin Ong each scored.

Calvary Christian then beat host West Liberty #1 5-2.

Gabe Salmonowicz recorded a hat trick.

Isaac Reinhard and Evan Patton each added a goal.

Hailey Howard recorded an assist.

U13

Huntsville #2 defeated West Liberty 7-2.

Alex Barhorst, Rece Kimmel, and Ryan Culp each scored twice.

Aidan Todd added a goal.

Calvary Christian defeated North Logan #2 6-1.

Jake Palmer had 2 goals.

Daniel Young, Tanner Hurley, Jordan Appleton, and Abigail Reinhard each scored a goal.

Defensively, Calvary was led by Owen Jordan, Lexi Reames, Kari Gantz, and Madhuri Cook.

Isaac Bender and Brody Boy both played excellent in goal for the Spartans.

Calvary is now 8-0 on the season.

U11

Huntsville #3 blanked North Logan #2 8-0.

Carson Clary recorded a hat trick.

Colin Bendler had 2 goals.

Cooper Hall, Ava Watson, and Maddy Miller each added a goal.

Calvary Christian defeated Waynesfield-Goshen 8-1.

Nehemiah Dillon had 2 goals.

Brett Gildow, Lincoln Roell, Elijah LeCrone, Megan Palmer, Kaylie Carter, and Laelle Thompson each scored a goal.

Nehemiah Dillon, Laelle Thompson, Reid Varner, and Trenton Brown recorded assists.

Evie Olgeslby, Brett Gildow, and Gavin Jordan played well in goal.

U9

Huntsville #2 ran past Waynesfield 5-0.

Will Faler delivered a hat trick.

Kierce Ginn and Rya Pequignot each added a goal.

Jace Ellis and Faler recorded the shutout in goal.

Calvary Christian #1 tied Calvary Christian #2 4-4.

Anderson Konz scored 3 goals.

Seth Palmer added a goal on a penalty kick.

Kole Gantz played well at right forward.

Moriah Tiendrebeogo, Dane Reames, Maddie Campbell, and Lincoln Nolan turned in good defensive efforts in the tie.

Leah Collinsworth had a good game in goal.

U8

Huntsville #2 tied Huntsville #4 3-3.

For Huntsville #2, Piper Robinson scored twice.

Mya Schroeder scored a goal.

Rylie Souder, Peyton Robinson, Claire Tidwell, and Cale Buchenroth each played strong supporting roles.

Huntsville #2 finished the regular season 3-3-2.

U6

Huntsville #1 defeated Huntsville #2 5-0.

Miller Hall had 2 goals.

Mila Hawkins, Adeline Schulz, and Bennett Shaner each had a goal.
