Tigers sweep large OHC meet - Monday track highlights

The West Liberty-Salem varsity girls track and field team won a six-team meet at Northeastern High School Monday evening. 

Team Scores: 1st WL-S 202, 2nd Fairbanks 93, 3rd West Jefferson 71, 4th Northeastern 65, 5th Triad 61, 6th Mechanicsburg 24 

The Lady Tigers Lydia Moell and Katelyn Stapleton both led the charge with multiple first-place finishes. Moell won the pole vault (10'0), long jump (16'1") and 300 meter hurdles (52.33). Stapleton won the 400 meter dash (1:03.99) and 800 meter run (2:32.63). Also placing first for WLS were Selena Weaver in shot put (29-1.5"), Addy Johnson 100 meter hurdles (19.40), Kaylee LeVan 100 meter dash (14.08), Reghan Bieleski 1600 meter run (5:53.11), Alex Burton 200 meter dash (28.6), Grace Adams 3200 meter run (12:43.28), the 4x800 relay team of Bieleski, Adams, Stapleton and Madison Bahan (10:23.52), the 4x200 relay team of LeVan, Moell, Taylor Lauck and Janie Kopus, (1:53.78), the 4x100 relay team of LeVan, Lauck, Burton and Megan Dillon (55.04) and the 4x400 relay team of Lauck, Kopus, Stapleton and Sophie Cole (4:26.31) 

Second-place finishes were provided by Megan Dillon in pole vault (8'0"), Alex Burton 100 meter dash (14.14), Grace Adams 1600 meter run (5:55.62), Reghan Bieleski in the 800 meter dash (2:34.97), and Janie Kopus in high jump (4'10"). 

Placing third were Kaylee LeVan in long jump (15'0.5") and Madison Bahan in the 1600 meter run (5:57). 

Fifth-place finishers were Hannah Bowman in the 200 meter dash (31.85) and Madison Bahan in the 3200 meter run (13:11). 

Rounding out the finishing places in sixth were Savannah Weaver in high jump (4'4"), Cukki Kabua in discus (64'11"), Allie Yoder in the 200 meter dash (32.94) and Maria Henderson in the 3200 meter run (15:14). 

WL-S will compete at the Graham Invitational on Friday.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity boys track team won the six-team meet at Northeastern on Monday night. 

WL-S had 126 points. Fairbanks was second with 111 and Northeastern placed 3rd with 96 points. 

WL-S had several first-place finishers, including 3 each from sophomore Noah Smith & sophomore Ethan Cole:

Cole won the 300H (44.05) and 110H (17.75).

The 4x200 Relay (Ethan Cole, Ian Wolfe, Jack Eggleston, Isaiah McGill) finished first in 1:39.14.

The 4x800 Relay (Noah Smith, Isaac Smith, Gavin Harrison, Caleb Siegenthaler) won in 9:14.99.

Noah Smith won the 1600 (5:01.80) and 3200 (11:00.43).

Gavin Harrison won the 800 (2:16.49). 

Placing third for WL-S:

WL-S will be competing at the Graham Invitational on Friday. Field events start at 4:30.

The Bellefontaine Middle School boys track team competed against Anna and Ft. Loramie Monday.

The Chiefs came in second to Anna.

Top finishers for BMS:

Evan Baker – 2nd in the 100m dash, 3rd in the 200m dash

Connor Skidmore – 1st in the 800m run, 2nd in the 1600m run, 3rd in the 400m dash

Lincoln Howell – 1st in shot put and 3rd in discus

Phillip Grumbling – 3rd in the 110m hurdles, 3rd in the 200m hurdles

Collin Deitsch – 1st in the high jump

Josh Steiner – Tied for 2nd in high jump

Shayne Hoel – 2nd in the 200m hurdles, 3rd in the 100m dash
