Tigers drop heartbreaker in sectional final - Wednesday baseball recap

The West Liberty-Salem varsity baseball team fell to Waynesville 3-2 in 9 innings in the Division III sectional final at Fairborn Wednesday night.

The Tigers scored a run in the top of the 6th inning to tie the game.

The Spartans scored the winning run with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th inning.

WL-S starter Thomas Allen went 7 innings and struck out 11.

Trevor Woodruff suffered the loss.

Allen had a hit and an RBI.

Trevor Burden drove in a run.

Woodruff, Zack Glock, Jacob Vanhorn, Levi Moell, and Tyler Jones each added a hit.

The Tigers finish the season 12-11 overall and 8-6 in the OHC.

Youth finals:

Farm League:

Zanesfield #1 Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home ran past West Liberty #4 LeVan's Excavating 18-3.

Pitchers Spencer Stolly, Hayden Smith, and Xavier Allen combined for 12 strikeouts.

Allen, Derek Greene, and Andrew Frederick each had multiple hits.

Stolly, Smith, Sutton Daring, Cason Bothel, and Adam Tinsman each added a hit.

Bothel and Allen each recorded 3 RBIs.

Bellefontaine #2 Dairy Queen rallied past Rushsylvania 8-3.

Beckham Harman and Aven Caudill each had a hit.

Rushsylvania starting pitcher Carter Fay held Dairy Queen hitless through 4 innings.
