The Raiders started off hot in the first inning with a lead-off double from senior Cole Waugh. Junior Garrett Dixon grounded out to the shortstop but got the Raiders on the board first to take an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.

In the bottom of the second, Kenton Ridge started making contact with the ball tallying up three runs to take a 3-1 lead. The same happened in the third as the Cougars tallied six more runs, extending their lead 9-1.

During the bottom half of the third, Raiders Head Coach Scott Wilson decided to make a switch on the mound replacing senior Curtis Gadson with Waugh.

“They were on it,” said Wilson on making the switch in the third. “They were swinging the sticks really well, which they do all the time and we just thought we'd give them a change of different arm action and see what we could do.”

To start the fourth inning, Wilson put in his ace freshman pitcher, Blake Peterson. Peterson finished the game for the Raiders throwing four scoreless innings.

With their season on the line in the bottom of the seventh, Ben Logan was able to score one more run by an RBI single from Nolan Roose but the offensive power from the Cougars in the second and third innings was just too much for the Raiders.

The Raiders finished their season 18-6 and have a lot of promise for next season.

“The future looks good,” said Wilson. “We have a really strong freshmen class coming up. We got six or seven strong coming up from the eight grade and we are returning about six or seven starters so I think we are going to be pretty competitive again. It's going to be a crazy league next year, everybody's going to be tough.”

Kenton Ridge (19-5) will find out who they will play Saturday, May 19 as Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy goes toe-to-toe with Bishop Fenwick Friday evening.
