Several local lifters posted wins in the Hilliker Y’s first power lifting competition recently. Lifters competed in four categories of teen, open, sub master, and master in bench press and curl. Each competitor had four bench lifts and four curls.
The female masters division in bench press competition featured gold medalist Jenny Wren and silver medalist Darcy Coates.
In the teen division, three competed with minimum starting lifts of 225. Gold medalists in the category were Simon Kirkpatrick and Nathaniel Lietzke. Joseph Mobley received a silver medal.
Open division gold medalists were Ryan Stewart, Nathan Gregg, and Brian Regula.
In the sub master division, gold medals went to Ryan Bopp with a 390 final bench, Wade Mannings with a 370 final bench, and Damon Dixon with an impressive 455 final bench. The silver medalists were Jeff Smalley and Rodney Wrocklage and the bronze medal went to Shane Sawmiller.
Finally, in the masters division Harold Mobley and Gregg Fulmer received gold medals, Paul Pride received the silver, and Matt Price took the bronze.
In the curling competition, Coates took gold in the female division, Kirkpatrick and Lietzke took gold in the teen competition, Gregg and Regula in the open division; Wrocklage in the sub master division and Fulmer in the master division. The next competition will be held in January for the Teen Categories and will include bench pressing and dead lifting and in May 2013 for Men and Women Divisions.
