The Logan County Braves Special Olympics team competed in the state summer games in Columbus last weekend.
22 athletes bowled at Sawmill Lanes. Ty Ferguson, Dennis Ross, Travis Lewis, and Matt Wildermuth had gold medal performances. Mollie Dodds, Stacy Wagner, Oscar Dodds, Stacy Wren, Michael Frazier, Joel Lange, and Eric Easley took silver. Danielle Reeves, Kathleen Benge, Roger Farr, Howard White, John O'Rielley, and Junior Baker garnered bronze. Deanne Singer, Connie Harrington, Mike Hughes, Bobby Offenbecher, and Tom Faulder just missed medals and finished fourth.
The bowling team was coached by Dale Barns and Don and Connie Oswald.
13 athletes competed in the track and field events. Marilyn Arnett and Shirley Knight earned gold. Paul Patterson, Ashley Colyer, Robin Hollinger, Frank Chatfield, and Jean Roberts had silver medal performances. Terry Schienda and Hollinger took bronze. Chatfield, Arnett, and Roberts received fourth-place ribbons. Patterson earned a 5th-place ribbon.
Track and field coaches were Jenny White, Todd White, and Nancy Steinberger.
