The Indian Lake 14 and under travel baseball team won the 18th annual Worthington Classic tournament over the weekend. The tournament, a Nations Baseball sanctioned event, featured 12 select travel teams from around central Ohio.
The Lakers beat the Gahanna Bulldogs 4-1 in the first game.
Andrew Mitchell was the winning pitcher with four strikeouts.
Nate Kaffenberger went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two stolen bases. Tyler Reprogle added a hit and two stolen bases.
Indian Lake ran past the Grove City Vipers 4-2 in the second game.
Kaffenbarger recorded the win with four strikeouts. Alex Jacobs earned the save.
Jacobs had two hits including a triple. Kaffenbarger added an extra base hit and an RBI.
Indian Lake outscored the New Albany Eagles 10-5 in the semifinals.
Jacobs pitched a complete game.
Parker Grothaus started a rally late in the game with Zayne Hakes, Andrew Hulbert, and Ethan Zorn providing key hits to reclaim the lead.
A three-run double by Joel Dixon sealed the win.
The Lakers defeated the Worthington Nationals 3-1 for the championship.
Dixon earned the win on the mound. Kaffenbarger recorded the save.
Dylan Albright scored twice and stole three bases. Kaffenbarger and Reprogle each tallied an extra base hit and an RBI.
The Lakers are now 33-6 on the season. They currently hold first place in the Ohio Division of the Central Ohio Youth Baseball League.
