The Bellefontaine Parks and Recreation Track and Field team wrapped up its season Saturday at the Hershey State Meet at the Jesse Owens Stadium in Columbus. The team swept up four first place finishes at the meet.
Lauren Carter (pictured) took two of those first place finishes in the 9-10-year-old girls’ division. She ran a time of 15.02 seconds in the 100 meter dash and 1:13.67 in the 400 meter dash. Carter’s finish in the 100 meter dash earned her spot in the national meet at the 2012 North American Hershey Track and Field Finals in Hershey, PA in August.
Carter also placed fourth in the 9-10-year-old girls’ softball throw with a distance of 85’1”.
“Lauren has not only amazing athletic ability, but motivation and determination that is quite exceptional for her age. It is a privilege to have her on the team and a delight to coach. We are excited for her to run at nationals,” Coach Noelle Dunn said.
Other first place finishes include Tyler Reinhard in the boys’ 11-12-year-old division softball throw with a distance of 147’9”. Declan Ashcraft also earned a first place finish with a distance of 108’9” in the boys’ 9-10-year-old softball throw.
