The #4 and #5 D3 state-ranked girls went head to head at the Buck Creek Invitational in Springfield. #4 Russia nipped #5 WLS 44-49 to take home the team title.
Senior Meghan Vogel (pictured) led the Big Orange charge by placing first out of 156 runners.
Teammates Jasmine Smith (6) and Alyssa Strickland (9) chipped in top ten finishes.
Rounding out the WLS top 7 were Shawnda Henault (12), Savanna Shipp (29), Jordan Smith (55), and Sarah Williams (60).
WLS travels to Anna for the Anna Rocket Invitational on October 6th.
The Big Orange Boys finished fourth overall out of 20 teams at the Buck Creek Invitational.
Top ten places were claimed by Aaron Scott (4) and Alex Adams (8).
Following were Chris Buschur (23), Joey Adams (44), Alex Steiner (59), Ross Kelley (61), Stephen Whetstine (66), Michael Lehman (81), Chris Davis (89), Kaden Cox (100), David Patterson (134), and Quincy Glunt (193).
The next meet is Saturday at the Anna Rocket Invitational at 11:00am.
The Jr. Big Orange boys had another outstanding run at the Buck Creek Invitational Saturday.
Justin Jordan won the race for the sixth time this year, helping to power the boys to a second-place finish out of 16 teams.
Charlie Williams (11) also got in the top 15 of 146 runners and was followed very closely by Bryan Woods (23), Zavier Esch (28), and Andrew Landis (33).
Also running with a great effort was Bishop Williamson, Cameron Cozad, Bailey Shafer, and Ian Higgins.
The Jr. Big Orange girls won the Buck Creek race. There were a total of 14 teams and 120 runners.
Reghan Bieleski led the team with an eighth-place finish. Also in the top 15 was Katie Hartsel (12). Following for the Tigers were Jenna Magnuson (17), Sarah Godwin (18), Laine Godwin (26), Ashley Black (29), Sophia Farquharson (59), Taylor Henault, and Anna Edwards.
The Junior High's next race is the Anna Invitational next Saturday.
The Bellefontaine Middle School boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Buck Creek Invitational on Saturday.
The boys finished third out of 16 teams.
The Jr. Chiefs were led by Peyton Neeld (14), Domonic Wilson (16), Justin Clayton (25), TJ Lamb (28), and Zach Yoesting (44). A total of 146 boys competed in the race.
The Jr. Lady Chiefs finished sixth out of 14 teams.
The team was led by Madelyn Levine (11), Katie Harman (15), Abby Godwin (26), Emily Kirby (38), and Emily Mitchell (84). A total of 120 girls ran in the race.
Both teams will compete again next Saturday in the Anna Rocket Invitational.
The Indian Lake varsity teams ran at the Firebird Invitational in Kettering Saturday.
Brad McIntire led the boys team, making the top twenty with a time of 18:03. Tyler Avila followed with a time of 21:23, Shane Asman was third on the team with a time of 21:49, Cameron Young had his best race of the year at 21:57, and Brandon Huffman finished in 22:10.
The girls team finished 7th overall. Leslie Reichert was 29th with a time of 22:21, Katie Ray followed with a 22:40, Ellen Schweiterman finished in 22:40, Corine Thomas had a 24:39, Dianna Meek was next at 24:41, MaCaleb Miller had a 25:54, Domenique Edwards had a personal best 25:50, and Josie Taylor finished in 28:58.
The Lakers will run at Anna on Saturday.
