The West Liberty-Salem girls took home runner-up honors at the 20-team Anna Rocket Invitational Saturday. The Big Orange, ranked #5 in D3, finished behind #4 ranked Russia 50-56.
Meghan Vogel led WL-S, placing first overall. Also pacing the Big Orange with top 10 finishes were Alyssa Strickland (7), Shawnda Henault (8), and Jasmine Smith (9).
WL-S looks to defend its OHC title at the Ohio Heritage Conference championship meet on Saturday at Triad.
The Big Orange Boys finished 3rd out of 25 teams at the Anna Rocket Invitational. WL-S also earned the number three seed for the upcoming Southwest District Division III races which will be held Saturday, October 20th in Clayton, OH.
Finishers for the Big Orange in the field of 279 runners were Aaron Scott (5), Alex Adams (14), Joey Adams (25), Chris Buschur (35), Ross Kelley (65), Alex Steiner (98), Michael Lehman (112), Stephen Whetstine (122), Chris Davis (134), Kaden Cox (169), David Patterson (195), and Quincy Glunt (253).

The Indian Lake girls placed 11th out of 20 teams at the Anna Invite.
First in was Ellen Schweiterman (52), followed by Leslie Reichert (55), Dianna Meek (73),
Katie Ray (75), Corine Thomas, and Josie Taylor.
On the boy’s side, Brad McIntire, Zack Oakley, Shane Asman, Tyler Avila, and Seth Mackesy were the point scorers.
The Jr. Laker harriers were in action this past weekend at Anna.
Finishing first for the Lady Lakers was Kennedy Wallbrown (24) out of 106 runners. Wallbrown was followed by Kelson Stidam (30), Madison Bryant (36), Hannah Avila (41), Nakiah Dague (82), Emma Powers (86), Madison Lykins (100), and Brianna Burt (106).
Finishing first for the boys was Dylan Albright (22), Gabe Reichert (42), Trey Lones (59), Josh Shelton (60), Tylor Burt (108), Tommy Meek (133), and George Blanks (153).
Their next meet will be the CBC meet at Springfield Shawnee on Saturday.
The Bellefontaine Middle School boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Anna Rocket Invitational on Saturday.
The Jr. Lady Chiefs finished 4th out of 10 teams. Leading the team were Madelyn Levine (8), Katie Harman (14), Abby Godwin (43), Angel Binfet (44), and Emily Kirby (46). A total of 106 girls competed in the race.
The boys team finished 5th out 16 teams. Leading the charge for the Jr. Chiefs were Peyton Neeld (17), Domonic Wilson (28), Justin Clayton (36), TJ Lamb (47), and Cavan Banks (68). A total of 154 boys competed in the race.
Both teams conclude their seasons next Saturday at the CBC Championships at Springfield Shawnee.
The West Liberty-Salem junior high teams ran in the Anna Invitational.
The West Liberty-Salem junior high boys’ team finished 6th.
Justin Jordan finished in 1st place. Also contributing for the boys were Charlie Williams, Zavier Esch, Andrew Landis, Bishop Williamson, Bryan Woods, and Bailey Shafer.
The West Liberty-Salem junior high girls’ team finished 2nd.
Reghan Bieleski came in 6th, Jenna Magnuson 9th, Katie Hartsel 18th, Ashley Black 23rd, Sarah Godwin 27th, and Laine Godwin 28th. Also finishing were Sophia Farquharson, Taylor Henault, and Anna Edwards.
The Jr. Big Orange will compete in the OHC Championship at Triad Saturday.
